In the garden of the Minton Tea Rooms

It was a wonderfully sunny morning on Sunday 3rd August clouding over slightly by the time our circular five mile walk around D H Lawrence country began at 12.30. However, by the time we returned to Mintons Tea Rooms in Moorgreen, Notts, at 3.00 pm the sun had reappeared and we enjoyed afternoon tea in their garden. The tea rooms are adjacent to Greasley Church, portrayed as Greymede Church in 'The White Peacock' and Minton Church in 'Sons And Lovers' by D H Lawrence. The half dozen walkers were joined by another six members ranging in age from 1 year 11 days to 60+. The tea shop owners were very appreciative of our business. This is probably due to a couple of people ordering two cakes and a cream tea each! The homemade cakes and puddings were delicious, albeit calorie laden. Baby James - the son of Lynn and Andrew - attended his first Mensa event and also enjoyed his first play in a sandpit that was in the garden. James also played on the swings but unfortunately they were not sturdy enough for us adults to join him! Having spent nearly two hours sitting chatting in the sunshine we were the last to leave the tea rooms.
