One Day - Three Events!

Saturday 21st April 2007

Having managed to secure parking spaces before two coachloads of wedding guests arrived at Greasley Church in Moorgreen, Notts, we set off at noon for a 5½ mile country walk. We were most impressed that Iris and Eddie Foweather had cycled an hour to the start point with the same ride home at the end of the walk. Luckily they could find sustenance at both the Queens Head pub and at Mintons tea rooms.

The walk took us across luscious fields, over the M1 motorway bridges (where we waved at drivers and got lots of friendly toots in response!) and through the four Watnall brickyard towers that can be seen for miles around. Walk leader Andy Farrell had even looked up details of the towers and was able to give us a brief history of the site. Having not known the number of walkers or their ability prior to the event nor how long it would take to be served lunch, amazingly we returned to Greasley Church at 3.00 pm prompt and retired to the sunny gardens of the adjacent Mintons tea rooms for our "T@3 event.

The tea was accompanied by huge slabs of homemade cakes and apple pie as well as soft drinks to cool off in the sun.

In the evening Andy and I hosted a whisky event at our home. Not everyone likes whisky and some were driving, so we had soft drinks on offer as well as a rival wine tasting! The weather and company made a perfect day. Thank you to those who participated.
