Twycross Zoo is well-known for the care of primates and is home to the PG Tips chimps.
Our Mensa exclusive day offers the following programme
10.00am-10.30am
Arrival/registration. After giving your name at the entrance please proceed to the Napier Centre.
10.30am-11.15am
Educational talk on the history of Twycross Zoo, the role of modern zoos, and an introduction to the importance of enrichment and welfare of the animals.
11.15am-12.15pm (session 1)
Chance to make enrichment - toys and feeding devices - for the primates using baskets, ice blocks, paper mache and balloons.
12.15pm-1.15pm (session 2)
As above. When not participating in a session you are free to explore the zoo.
1.15pm-2.15pm
Buffet lunch comprising ham, cheese, and egg mayonnaise sandwiches, cheese and onion quiche, crisps, cakes, fruit platter, fruit juices and mineral water.
2.15pm-3.30pm
A guided tour of the zoo with education staff and chance to watch the enrichment made in the morning being used by the animals.
3.30pm-5.30pm
Free time to explore the rest of the zoo.
Tickets only £10 per person
