FThOTM

This is our monthly meeting at the Three Magnets, in Leys Avenue. This is one of the main shopping streets of Letchworth, and is a short walk from the railway station, which is served by regular trains between London and Cambridge. The "Curry Club" is back on Thursdays with an expanded range of curries, though other meals are available (standard Wetherspoons fare). Attendance has been growing steadily, but there is still plenty of room. Please call or text Steve on [Phone Number], or email [Email] for more details and encouragement. (The Three Magnets pub is named after town planner Ebenezer Howard's Three Magnets model, on which the Garden Cities movement is based; the first two magnets representing town and countryside respectively, with the advantages and disadvantages of each, and the third magnet representing a town-country hybrid, with the advantages of both town and countryside. Letchworth was the first of Howard's Garden Cities; the second being Welwyn Garden City, where he is commemorated by the Howard Centre, a shopping arcade attached to the rail station and multi‑storey car park).

All welcome, and you can bring a guest, but not suitable for children. Decent food and good ales, and the pub has its own car park. I need to book our table, so please let me know by Friday 7th if you're coming along. Contact Jacquie Harrison, on [Email] or [Phone Number].

Lunch

Come to our regular 2WOTM meeting in Belper, at Cocoa Cafe, 2 Strutt St, Belper DE56 1UN. Free parking nearby, just off the market square, or on a number of nearby side streets. Panini, sandwiches, salads, daily specials, hot/soft drinks etc. I need to know numbers as it's a small place, so please contact Helen on [Phone Number] or [Email] by the previous weekend, earlier if possible. All welcome! We will probably be upstairs, but best to ask for Helen's group to make sure. If you have any problems parking, there's a huge car park on Field Lane, just off the A6, in the centre of Belper. You do have to pay, but it's not very expensive. Belper has lots of interesting independent stores, so why not come early and make a day of it. Friends and relatives, Mensan and non-Mensan, are most welcome. If you need any more information, feel free to ask.
